So It's Been A Month...

September 19, 2015

This isn't one of my typical fashion-related posts, so I apologize in advanced, but I feel like I owe an explanation as to why I've been MIA for the past month.  I can't believe it has already been four week since I last saw my house, my family, and most importantly, my closet (I miss it so much).  At college, there are never enough hours in the day, and it's easy to let things slip through the cracks, as I have done with blogging. But, I am making it a priority to devote more time to this site in the coming weeks!

In case you've been wondering what has been keeping me away from blogging this past month, here's what I've been up to...

My beautiful home, Baker Tower.

1) SCHOOL

Taking 15 credits during my freshman fall semester was heavenly, but it left me totally unprepared to handle my INSANE amount of work this semester.  I'm taking some really amazing classes, like Stone Age Art and Financial Accounting (it sounds lame but I promise it's fun #nerdatanerdschool).  I'm also taking some not-so-amazing classes (Introductory Biology, I'm looking at you).  Schoolwork has kept me in the library for more hours than I'd like to admit, but I've finally found my study spots where I can be productive & relaxed (eternally thankful for the Uris Cocktail Lounge and Olin Third Floor Stacks).

I'm also taking an amazing course called Apparel and Textiles in Developing Nations, which is a prerequisite for a 17-day trip to India that I'll be going on this winter! I've really loved learning about the cultures, customs, and fashion of this fascinating country, and I can't believe I get to visit and have a hands-on learning experience!

2) A CAPELLA

I firmly believe that in order to have a truly well-rounded college experience, one must participate in a cappella.  Last fall, my roommate/BFF Kineret and I joined an a cappella group called The Chai Notes.  We just released an amazing album, so if you want to listen to me singing "doh doh" and "ja da da da" all day and night (I KNOW YOU DO!!), then you should buy an album!!

Kiki and I are also now the A Cappella Advisory Council representatives for our group, so it's been interesting to see the inner workings of a cappella on our campus!

3) #WERK

A college girl's gotta make bank, amirite?!  I finally started work again this week, so it's been nice being back & doing tour guide things!  With the inauguration of Cornell's 13th President, Elizabeth Garrett, it's such an exciting time to work for the university!  I actually just met our President Garrett about 10 minutes ago at work and I fangirled and it was amazing.

In addition to working on campus, I've also been working with the Digital Ventures division of the Boston Consulting Group for a while now!  I've been helping with a really awesome project that I unfortunately cannot say more about, but I promise it's amazing!

4) JUST FASHION MAJOR THINGS

I've recently added Careers in the Fashion Industry to my list of extracurriculars, and I'm currently serving as Media Chair/Vice President.  Being a part of this organization has been such an awesome experience because we provide incredible opportunities for students to network with fashion industry leaders and learn about all of the potential career paths in this exciting industry!

I was also nominated for the YMA Scholarship, so that's been quite the commitment this semester. Basically, I have to write a long case study about a particular brand (this year it's Birchbox) and what they're doing wrong and what they're doing right and all that cool stuff.  PS If you use Birchbox or know someone who does, send them my way because I have many questions and so far I have zero answers!!

CIFI at Clubfest!!

5) RALLYING

This is the most important part of the college experience (besides schoolwork & grades, duh!).  After a long week of classes, studying, work, and meetings, everyone needs a little bit of partying to release all the stress!! I'm taking advantage of the warm weather and the ability to wear shorts and flip flops out at night while I can!! As soon as fracket season hits, it's going to be a struggle to motivate myself to go out (my bed is just so warm and sooooo comfy).

I'm, like, SOOOOO #college!!

6) OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS I'VE BEEN DOING

Netflix: But I'm watching The West Wing so it's educational, right?

Manicure: I got a manicure once. It was great.

Thank you Cayuga Nail Spa for killing it as always and for the dope $5 student discount.

Amazon: Shopping used to be my cardio, but now I prefer the amazing world of "one-click" online ordering. The other day, I ordered mascara, eyeliner, and foundation without moving from my bed. It was wild.

Actual Cardio: I am now one of those people who wakes up at an ungodly hour in the morning to go on a 3 mile run.  I used to think these people didn't exist, or that they were mythical creatures, but it's real. I promise. I also did a Spartan Race a few weeks ago, which was wonderful and awful.

Spartan Race: Smiling through the pain.

Snapchat: Have you downloaded the new update yet???

Starbucks: It's pumpkin spice latte season.  You know where to find me.

Why is this a thing, and why do I have one?

I hope this long list of excuses/apologies was somewhat entertaining, and going forward I PROMISEEEE to make blogging a priority.  So stay posted for more fun & fashion coming soon!

xo!
