Nothing is more valuable than having the perfect Little Black Dress. As the great Karl Lagerfeld once said, "one is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress." The LBD was made famous by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, and it has certainly stood the test of time. LBDs are fantastic because they work for practically any occasion. You can wear it to an interview, a wedding, and anything in between! After 19 years of searching, I finally found my perfect LBD this summer...
This stunning dress is by Ted Baker, a London-based designer company with whom I've recently become infatuated. Their collections mix fabulous patterns with simple silhouettes to create timeless styles. As soon as I saw this Stretch Skater Dress, I fell in love. It's comfortable, stretchy, and extremely well made.
There are so many ways to wear a LBD, but I like to keep things simple. I drew inspiration from Audrey Hepburn in one of my favorite movies, Breakfast at Tiffany's, to put together this ensemble. I've always admired the simply chic style of her character, Holly Golightly. This Ted Baker dress reminded me of the stunning dress worn by Holly when she first meets her new neighbor, Paul Varjak (AKA Fred).
Black is absolutely my favorite color to wear. I adore it so much; I've even said on multiple occasions that I plan to wear black to my own wedding one day (although I've received criticism that this idea is a bit morbid). The color black is timeless; a simple black dress purchased today can be worn five years from now and still look beautiful! You don't need to be a professional fashionista to rock an LBD. Just throw on some cute accessories and you'll be good to go!
Pearls are always a must when it comes to LBDs! I am wearing vintage pearl earrings, bracelets, and a necklace. I am also wearing my Tahitan Jelly Michele Watch, Tory Burch sunglasses, and my Furla Candy Crossbody Bag in grey. On my feet, I'm wearing my Christian Louboutin 100mm Patent Simple Pumps. The red heel adds a fun accent color to this all-black ensemble.
While it's fun to get all dolled up in bright colors and trendy patterns, nothing compares to the simple elegance of a well-made LBD.
