See Ya Soon, Cornell!

It has been FAR too long since I last blogged, and I sincerely apologize for that. But being a college student is quite the time commitment, and my last round of prelims and finals consumed a great deal of my time in the past few weeks.

At 9:46 AM this morning, I turned in my last final of the semester. Now, I can finally relax knowing that for the next three months I will have a stress-free summer full of traveling, shopping, and fun!

But, of course, I can't help but be a little emotional as my freshman year of college comes to a conclusion. Actually, let's be real. I'm very emotional right now...

When I arrived at Cornell in August, I was nervous, excited, and scared. I had lived away from home before, and I felt prepared for the Ivy League level of schoolwork, but college was something so new to me. I hoped that my experience would meet my high expectations. I was so hyped about being able to study fashion, but I didn't really know what these new classes would be like. And most of all, I was really nervous about finding my friend group.

First night out at a frat party.

I moved in to Jameson Hall with my roommate by my side, and I eventually (tearfully) said goodbye to my parents. I was alone on this giant campus with all these unfamiliar faces.

Fast forward 10 months and now it's hard to picture this campus being anything but my home.

Exploring Cornell with Rachel, Zach, and Alana

I am really lucky that I had such an amazing first year at Cornell. Every single day, I am reminded of how blessed I am to attend this amazing university full of motivated, brilliant, and passionate people. It's going to be so strange being away from Ithaca for 3 months, and I'm already counting the days until I return next semester (92 DAYS!!).

Of course, this year would not have been what it was without my incredible new friends. I am so so thankful to have each and every one of you in my life. Whether we were sitting in the lounge cramming for exams, eating Mozzerella sticks at 12:30AM at Nasties, exploring our amazing campus, turning up during wild hours, nasty freestyling in the Africana library instead of studying, or pursuing an unnecessary vendetta against Clara Dickson, there was never a dull moment. You guys made this year even more amazing than I could have expected, and the fact that we get to spend the next three years together makes me so so excited.

And no "thank you" post is complete without a shout-out to my amazing family. Thank you to my brother for keeping me sane and always responding to my ridiculous texts. Being so far away from my best friend wasn't easy, but I could not have made it through this year without you! And thank you to my absolutely amazing parents. I know sending the eldest child away to college must be difficult, but I am happy you both made it up to campus a couple of times this year! Thank you for giving me the ambition and drive to pursue my dreams. And thank you for teaching me to follow my passion and study something I truly love!! I am so grateful to have you as my biggest cheerleaders.

This year, I created so many amazing memories every single day. I never thought that I'd fall as in love with Cornell as I did. And I am so much happier today than I ever imagined possible. Cornell, thank you for giving me the greatest year of my life. Thank you for providing me with a place to study my favorite thing in the world. Thank you for giving me something new to explore every day. Thank you for introducing me to so many diverse and interesting people. And thank you for making me feel like I belong.

I can't imagine myself at any other place in the world. Ithaca, it's been an amazing 10 months, and I'm so excited for the years to come.
