Trend Report: Patterned Pants

March 21, 2014

I haven't gone shopping in the LONGEST time!  But now that spring is here, I needed some new clothes!  So, my mom and I hit the mall today to start shopping for our trip to Italy in two weeks!  I did a lot of shopping today, but one thing that is going to be a staple in my wardrobe this spring is patterned pants! And I'm not talking about those ridiculous baggy bohemian Urban Outfitters pants; I'm talking about patterned ankle pants.

I'm so obsessed with this trend! They are perfect for spring because they are more stylish than regular solid pants but perfect for when it's too cold to wear skirts and dresses! And wearing patterned pants makes buying tops so much easier!  Just keep it simple!  Pair these pants with either a solid button down or a solid tank top and sweater.  Finish it off with a gorgeous statement necklace and you're good to go!  In the pictures above, they are wearing these pants with heels, but heels are definitely not an everyday shoe.  I like to wear patterned pants with simple Tory Burch Reva flats or French Sole flats.
One store that has a great selection of these pants is J.Crew!  This store is absolutely fabulous.  It's so preppy and their clothing is really well made.  Here are three pairs of patterned pants that I purchased today from J.Crew!

1) Minnie Pant in Foulard ($98.00)

2) Campbell Capri in Abstract Wave Print (originally $98.00, on sale $69.99)

3) Campbell Capri in Lattice Medallion ($98.00)

These pants are so much fun!  I cannot wait to wear them!  The great thing about these pants is that they can all be worn with similar tops.  Here are some of my favorite basic tanks that would look great with these pants:

1) Frenchi Woven Swing Tank ($28.00)

2) Painted Threads Crochet Trim Crop Top ($34.00)

3) Lush Draped Chiffon Camisole ($34.00)

4) ASTR Crochet Trim Racerback Tank ($52.00)

5) Topshop Sleeveless Jacquard Peplum Top ($36.00)

Patterned pants also look adorable with a classic button-down top.  My favorite button-down is this Halogen Long Sleeve Chambray Shirt ($68.00). It comes in so many colors, and it's very lightweight, which is perfect for spring!

I can't wait to wear these outfits all around Italy!! Whatever your plans are this spring, patterned pants work for any occasion! PS: Here's a fitting room selfie from J.Crew in the first pink and green pants!
