Wintertime Sadness

February 5, 2014

I have some not so great news.  For those of you who live on the east coast, you already know about the crazy snow we had yesterday and the storm that's expected for tomorrow!  Of course, this terrible weather would come right in the middle of exam week!  Since I had a snow day yesterday and I'm having a snow day tomorrow, my exams were pushed back a few days, so I won't be able to attend Fashion Week this Thursday! I am truly heartbroken, as I was so excited for my first MBFW experience, but, I know there will be plenty of fashion shows in my future.  I am too obsessed with the outfit I had planned to wear, so I am going to be posting pictures of it this Sunday!  But until then, I can still fantasize about Fashion Week, right?

I was planning on attending Jay Godfrey's NYFW premiere at the Hub on Thursday, so I decided to go online and check out some of his pieces.  Turns out, he is a really cool designer!

Jay Godfrey first realized he wanted to work in fashion after a summer job with Hugo Boss.  He studied finance at McGill University in Montreal, and shortly after, he began working on Wall Street with Citigroup.  During this time, he gained a strong background in business, which is very important in the fashion industry!  He took classes at the Parsons School of Design and found an internship with Oscar de la Renta.  This internship helped him gain fashion experience, and now he has his own label!  His label has been in business for 6 years, and his pieces can be found in Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and many other retail locations.  Here are some of my favorite pieces from his current collections!

I love this Woodward Sheath Halter Dress with Contrast Trim! First of all, orange and pink are my absolute favorite colors!  While they might not always be in season, they are a great addition to any spring or summer wardrobe.  The neck of this dress is really unique, and I love the little slit on the top.  It creates a sleek and sexy look without being too revealing!  This dress is perfect for a garden party, a casual event, or a cute spring break look!

I love jump suits!! Not everyone can pull them off (you have to be really adventurous,) but if you think you're a jump suit kinda gal, then this Keys Tank Jumpsuit is perfect for you!  Once again, Jay Godfrey creates a perfect combination of sexy and sleek with the netting at the very top of the tank.  And black is the perfect color for a  bold look like this!

This Hall Strapless Dress with Gore Skirt is SO CUTE!! It's fun, flirty, and casual.  I love the pink and purple combination, and if you look closely, it has an alligator pattern.  This racerback dress is adorable! I am really in love with it!

Finally, every girl needs a good shift dress! This Parsons Shift Dress with Sequin Overlay is perfect! I like this shift dress because it is a racerback and has an adorable scalloped bottom.  Plus, it's very light and great for a casual event!

Jay Godfrey may be a new designer, but he has already made a big impact on the fashion industry.  His youthful, sexy, and sleek style has become very popular and is definitely here to stay!

Don't miss any of the action during this NYFW!  Watch every show live from the MBFW website
