Looks: Channeling Serena

February 1, 2014

Every true fashionista knows that Serena van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively on Gossip Girl, is a total fashion icon.  She has the greatest upscale wardrobe.  One thing I love about Serena's style is that she often wears plaid.  Plaid is a great pattern that people often shy away from because it's not so easy to wear.  Too much plaid can look overwhelming, but just the right amount looks polished and classy!

Last week, I channeled Serena's style with this fabulous outfit!

I am wearing a grey peacoat, a white shell tank top, a plaid high-waisted skirt, tall grey socks, black rain boots, and pearl necklaces, bracelets, and earrings!

My peacoat is no longer sold, but this Kenneth Cole New York Paneled Waist Peacoat in Graphite (originally $198.00, on sale $98.00) is so similar! My tank top, from Topshop, is also no longer sold, but I love this Free People 'Long Beach' Tank in White ($20.00).  It is a great basic tank for any outfit!

The featured piece of my outfit is my blue plaid Kaitlee Skirt from Brandy Melville ($29.00)

This is the perfect plaid skirt.  It comes in the color shown, green, purplish red, and black.  I love this skirt because of the way it's fitted.  It flairs out in the front, giving it such a cute look!

I finished off my outfit with these gorgeous Coach Tristee Rainboots ($128.00).  These are without a doubt the best rain boots ever.  I used to hate wearing rain boots because normally they are so bulky and unflattering.  But these have tie up laces in the back and are patterned with the signature Coach print.  They are stylish, and great for rainy weather!
